How to feel sexy and relaxed during your boudoir photoshoot

How to feel sexy and relaxed during your boudoir photoshoot

During your boudoir photoshoot, it’s important to prepare so that you can be as relaxed as possible. Feeling calm and composed will result in confident, sexy images. Here are the tips I give my Chicago boudoir photoshoot clients.

1. Focus on having fun during your shoot.

If you have never done anything like this before, you may feel nervous or even overwhelmed. It is my job as your photographer to get great shots.  The only thing you need to do is trust me, relax, follow directions and BREATHE!!! Enjoy being a woman and being pampered. Have fun! If you are genuinely having a great time, you will have an extra sparkle in your eyes and you will love your images so much more. If you are not relaxed, it will show in your images.

2. Visualize your boudoir photoshoot ahead of time.

Don’t focus on your nerves or think about whether or not what you’re doing is awkward. Instead, picture yourself having a good time, feeling relaxed and looking sexy. If you feel really stressed, please, please do not take any stress relieving drugs like Xanax before you shoot, if you can help it.  You don’t want to have that spaced out look in your eyes. You want them to sparkle!

3. Show up and give it all you’ve got.

If you want to feel sexy during your shoot, you’ve got to really be into the moment and open. Posing is my job as your boudoir photographer, but posing is only half of it. Confidence will show up in your photos and you have to bring that. Even if you are just faking it. This will be easier if you trust the photographer that you are working with. Also, bringing a friend along to your shoot for moral support is also great.  My boudoir photo shoots are tailored to your comfort level. You can show as little or as much skin as you would like.

4. Remember the context.

The sheer fact that you are willing to be in front of the camera being photographed is totally sexy! It’s powerful and vulnerable at the same time.

5. Be yourself.

Honor who you are, in this moment. The time is now. You are sexy and beautiful just as you are.

6. Arrive on time and don’t make plans for right after your session.

Leave your day open and make sure you baby sitter is available for more time than you need. Arriving late to your session makes sessions feel rushed and stressful. Show up with ample time to spare and get ready to be pampered. Plus, saving that extra time after your boudoir photoshoot ensures that you won’t be worried about leaving because you have other plans. Your main goal is to have fun, so put all other agendas on the back burner.
