How to Prepare for a Boudoir Shoot

Being 100% prepared your boudoir shoot is very important. It results in a relaxed experience that generates stunning photos. Here are a few guidelines to follow before your boudoir shoot!

Select a boudoir photographer you trust

You need a great photographer who you can trust, and whose work you like. You want someone who will draw out your confidence and use their photography talents to produce captivating images. Talk with your boudoir photography and ask about their process. Ask questions like, “What do you do to ease nerves during the boudoir shoot?”

Maintain a positive attitude and open mind

On the day of your session, please arrived rested and with a great attitude. Please keep an open mind that the photographer knows what she is doing and will not steer you wrong. Please be assured that at my studio, you will never be asked to do anything or pose in a way that will make you uncomfortable. Our boudoir shoots are based on your comfort level.

Hire a professional hair and makeup artist

Hair and makeup artists are just that, artists. They know just how to make you feel sexy and beautiful with a style that matches your personality. They know exactly how to apply your makeup for the camera and understand how it plays a role in the images.

Choose outfits that make you feel sexy and beautiful

You don’t need to spend a ton of money on outfits for your boudoir shoot. However, the right outfit can make the experience almost perfect! If the outfit does not fit properly, it will not photograph well. When it fits like a dream, though, you’ll feel confident and the photos will show it!

Besides lingerie, there are a lot of everyday items you can find in a closet or drawers (or his drawers!) that can be used for a boudoir photo session. Can’t find anything to wear for your session? Why not go nude?

Select a great pair of high heels

High heels make your legs look great and long — just the thing to add a bit of classy luxury to your boudoir shoot.

Don’t forget the jewelry!

Jewelry is a great way to accent your outfit and add a little personality to your session. It polishes up your look!

Stay hydrated and apply lots of lotion!

Hydrate, hydrate and apply lots of yummy lotion. Drink lots of water for the days leading up to your boudoir shoot. It will keep you from appearing bloated and will make your skin look great. Be sure to apply a lot of lotion too as you want your skin to look hydrated and not dry and ashy.

Treat yourself to a mani and pedi.

Be sure to have your nails and toes done prior to your session as you don’t want any chipped polish or naked nails. If polish is not your thing, have a french manicure done. Also if you love to be barefoot, make sure your feet are spotless!

Devote your entire day to the boudoir shoot.

Don’t make any plans for the day. Instead, devote your entire day to your session so that you are not feeling rushed before or after. Make plans for a night out with your significant other or your girlfriends BECAUSE YOU ARE GONNA LOOK & FEEL FABULOUS.
