How to Make Yourself Look Good for a Boudoir Photoshoot

Preparing for a boudoir photoshoot or any type of professional photoshoot can be exciting and intimidating all at once. On one hand, it’s fun to pamper yourself in preparation for beautiful pics. On the other hand, the thought of having them turn out poorly can feel stressful. Here are some tips that can help you be prepared and feel beautiful when it’s time to get your picture taken.

Do Your Makeup

Doing your makeup for a photoshoot is often essential.  I want you to know that when you book a photo session with our studio, you will not have to do your makeup on your own!  Makeup is provided with all of our boudoir photoshoots.  But if you are having another type of session done such as a branding photo session, a family session or a bridal shoot, there are a variety of ways to go about doing your makeup. But regardless of what you want to do with your makeup, make sure you’re not trying anything for the first time on the day of. Having a failed attempt at applying fake eyelashes on the day of the photoshoot will definitely be a frustrating experience.

You should also think about the lighting that will be used when preparing for a photoshoot —depending on the setting, you may need to make your makeup a bit more pronounced than you would do normally in order to ensure it actually shows up on camera.

Whiten Your Teeth

In addition to doing your makeup the right way, you should also invest some time beforehand in whitening your teeth. Your smile tends to be the main focal point of a portrait picture, so you want it to look good.

There are a couple ways you can go about whitening your teeth. But there are a lot of at-home kits that work surprisingly well. Look up reviews of the different options to figure out which one would be the best fit for you. According to Henderson & Goslee Family Dentistry,  an at-home whitening kit can take up to two weeks to work.

Do Your Hair

Finally, according to UK Models, it’s important to take the time to do your hair well. I want you to know that when you book a photo session with our boudoir studio, you will not have to do your hair on your own!  Hairstyling is provided with all of our boudoir photoshoots. Doing your hair for a photoshoot requires a bit more thought than doing your hair for a normal day. This is especially true if the photo shoot requires a variety of angles. For example, you might love some updos from the front but not from the back. If you are having bridal photos taken, you’ll likely have a large number of photos taken from the back so it’s important that you like your hair from that angle as well.

Having a photoshoot is fun. Getting ready for it is also fun. As you prepare for your upcoming shoot, don’t stress it too much. Be confident in yourself and trust the photographer to capture the best version of yourself.
